No to Baby Powder

Recent research has concluded that using baby powder on baby’s bottom can be damaging to the infant’s health. It’s quite incomprehensible but yes, it’s true! Even I never thought that one of the sweetest and freshest scents on earth may be accountable for harming babies especially baby boys.

A research at the University of Washington (Seattle) found that baby powder contains artificial chemicals identified as phthalates which are also used to keep vinyl soft. These chemicals are said to be associated with development issues in the reproductive system of baby boys. Moreover, these harmful chemicals can also be found in baby lotions, shampoos, dishes, and toys.

Upon knowing this, nervous moms might consider returning to a natural baby powder used by our fore-mothers ages ago: cornstarch. The only difference is that cornstarch absorbs more than powder does and that it clumps up. But what’s a little clumping compared to long-term reproductive issues?
