The Proper Use of Pacifiers

feature photo

A pacifier is a convenient and excellent substitute for a bottle which in turn is a replacement for a mother’s breast. Sucking has always been a necessity and habit for babies since it provides comfort and is soothing to them. Though pacifier doesn’t offer nourishment like the breast and bottles with milk do, it can be related to a gentle sleep.

Pacifiers can be used to make the baby have a good time sleeping without nursing it too much and filling it up more than what is needed. In this way, the baby’s need to suck is satisfied. However, try to break the habit when the child is weaned at about one year of age. It’s much easier now, than at two or three. Moreover, long-term use can be associated with dental and speech problems as the baby grow up.
