Naming Your Baby after a Family Member
When naming an infant, it is often traditional and customary to name the child – especially the baby boys – after another family member. Most parents follow this practice because they believe that it is a chance to honor family lineage or to honor an important individual. Moreover, the flattered family member may feel extra special love and affection towards his or her namesake. Your child might even inherit the most kept antique business card holder when he grows up.
However, you may also want to consider that upon naming your child after a particular relative can hurt the feelings of others. The name may unconsciously put the child in the shade of his namesake making him lose or hide some of his true identity. Lastly, you might end up with a name that is out of fashion at the present. Indeed, naming your child is a very important decision to make thus choose wisely.
